Merlin

Merlin

by on Feb.24, 2011, under Commissions, Merlin

Merlin is a commission for a client in “Merlin, Oregon” (appropriately enough!). The piece stands approximately 8′ tall. It consists of a central “earthen core” pedestal with a platform. On it stands Merlin (approximately 26″ tall), his flowing robes and raised arm demonstrating as he conjures the elements around him. The “elements” swirl on a 3/16″ coiled steel rod that sways in the breeze. Small pieces of debris are raised up in the energy that also sends a small lizard and a hummingbird skyward. In support of the pedestal and seeking shelter against the whirling elements are a raccoon, two squirrels that playfully chase each other, and a bear cub attempting to pull himself up to the platform.

Cast in cold-cast bronze (bonded bronze in resin) and suitable for outdoor placement. Available in multiple configurations, in parts or as a whole.
